JSW signs PPA with GUVNL for wind-solar hybrid project

JSW Renew Energy Seventeen, a subsidiary of JSW Energy, has entered into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) for a 192 MW wind-solar hybrid capacity connected to the state transmission utility (STU) in Gujarat. This is the company’s first PPA for a wind-solar hybrid project, with the power set to be supplied for 25 years at a tariff of Rs 3.27 per kWh. The project is scheduled for commissioning within 24 months.

JSW Energy has a project pipeline of 8.3 GW, with PPAs signed for 3.2 GW. The company’s total generation capacity stands at 18.2 GW, which includes 7.7 GW of operational capacity and 2.1 GW under construction across wind, thermal, and hydro sectors, alongside a renewable energy (RE) pipeline of 8.3 GW.

The company also has a locked-in energy storage capacity of 16.2 GWh through battery energy storage systems (BESS) and hydro pumped storage projects. JSW Energy aims to achieve a generation capacity of 20 GW and energy storage capacity of 40 GWh by 2030, with a target of reaching carbon neutrality by 2050.
