Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren announced the waiver of old electricity bills for families living below the poverty line. Speaking at a gathering in Dumka, Soren stated that the government would provide 200 units of free electricity and, in the first phase, waive off all past electricity dues for poor households not filing Income Tax Returns. He mentioned that the government would also consider assessing the electricity dues of middle-class families, aiming to send a “zero rupee bill” to every household.

NTPC to establish seawater-to-green hydrogen plant in Andhra Pradesh
NTPC Limited is setting up a one-tonne per day seawater-to-green hydrogen plant at its Simhadri facility near Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Developed through its R&D centre, NETRA, the project will use a low-carbon desalination plant powered by waste heat from the thermal power plant’s flue gas. Orient Solar has announced plans to increase its production capacity from 800 MW to 2 GW by mid-2025. This expansion involves an investment of Rs 1.30 billion, covering capital expenditure, land, and building costs.
