Indo-US partnership strengthens on India’s energy transition goals

Jonathan Heimer, Minister Counselor for Commercial Affairs at the United States Foreign Commercial Service (FCS), highlighted the US’s support for India’s energy transition at the 2nd Energy Summit by the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC).

Heimer emphasized opportunities for collaboration in clean energy sectors, noting India’s target of 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030. Carrie Antal, Deputy Director at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), praised India’s economic growth and its role as a model for other nations.

Upendra Tripathy, former Secretary of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), and Sunil Jain, Chairman of IACC’s Energy Committee, discussed bilateral engagements and the potential of small modular reactors (SMRs).

Arun Karna, Regional President of IACC-NIC and Managing Director & CEO of AT&T Global Network Services India Pvt Ltd, highlighted renewable energy’s economic benefits. Dr. Lalit Bhasin, Immediate Past National President of IACC, stressed balancing climate change mitigation with economic development.
