A high-level meeting between senior ministers of India and Singapore has laid the groundwork for an upcoming visit to Singapore by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Singapore’s Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan announced.  

During this meeting, new areas of collaboration, such as advanced manufacturing, semiconductors, aviation, and maritime connectivity, were added to the ISMR agenda. The Singaporean foreign minister emphasized the potential of collaborating in the semiconductor industry, a key area for India’s expansion, where Singapore has significant expertise. The aviation sector was highlighted as another area ripe for cooperation, with India experiencing rapid growth and ordering over 1,000 planes in the past year. Singapore’s strong capabilities in aviation services, such as maintenance and air operations, align well with India’s ambitions.

Areas such as digitization, the green economy, skills development, healthcare, and food security were also discussed.  

Cybersecurity, interoperability, and standardizing rules for regional collaboration were also discussed to ensure seamless integration of other countries into this expanding network.
