India is constructing 14 additional 700 MW nuclear reactors, expected to be operational by 2031-32, following the design of KAPS-4. The Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL) currently operates 24 reactors with a total capacity of 8,180 MW and has eight units under construction, adding 6,800 MW. Another 10 reactors, totalling 7,000 MW, are in pre-project phases, set to bring the country’s nuclear capacity to 22,480 MW by 2031-32.

Sealmatic India, the country’s only ISO 19443-accredited mechanical seal company for the nuclear sector, stands to benefit from this expansion. Each 700 MW reactor will require 100 highly critical mechanical seals, creating a demand for 1,400 seals by 2030. Sealmatic is targeting a 15% market share of these opportunities, with its high-precision mechanical seals used in nuclear and thermal power plants.
