Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur has secured a contract worth Rs 1.47 million to conduct wind tunnel testing for the reinforced cement concrete (RCC) chimney of the 800 MW Sipat Advanced Ultra Super Critical (AUSC) Thermal Power Project Stage-III. The tender was issued by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) in December 2024. The work is expected to be completed within one year.

The 1,600 MW Stage-III project is being developed by NTPC Limited at Shaktinagar village in Sonebhadra district, Uttar Pradesh, and involves construction of two 800 MW units.

Separately, CEG Test House and Research Centre Private Limited has won a Rs 8.58 million contract for geotechnical investigations at the 2,800 MW Mahi Banswara Nuclear Power Project in Rajasthan. The tender was floated by WAPCOS Limited in January 2025, and the work is to be completed in four months.

The nuclear project is being developed in fleet mode by a joint venture of NTPC Limited and Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), with a 49:51 equity split. It involves the construction of four units of Pressurised Heavy-Water Reactors (PHWRs) and has an estimated cost of Rs 504 billion.
