Honeywell, Repsol partner to advance biofuels, recycling technologies

Honeywell and Repsol are collaborating to develop and scale new technologies for producing biofuels and circular materials. The partnership will utilize Honeywell’s processes to convert waste materials like fats, oils, and biomass into renewable fuels, including sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and renewable diesel, at Repsol’s refineries.

Repsol is also considering Honeywell’s UpCycle Process Technology to enhance plastic recycling capabilities, aiming to recycle up to 90% of waste plastics. This collaboration supports Repsol’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 and strengthens its position in renewable fuels and hydrogen production.

The companies have a history of working together, including a 2023 project where Repsol adopted Honeywell’s Ecofining technology to produce renewable fuels at its Puertollano plant in Spain.
