Honeywell commissions microgrid battery energy storage system for Lakshadweep Islands project

Honeywell Automation India (HAIL) has commissioned a microgrid battery energy storage system (BESS) for the Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) project in the Lakshadweep Islands. This project marks the first non-containerized BESS approved by SECI and integrates Honeywell’s advanced Energy Management System (EMS) and microgrid controller to manage renewable energy distribution.

As part of the initiative, Honeywell supplied its EMS, power plant controller, and various BESS sub-systems. The company provided an end-to-end solution for SunSource Energy, which holds the SECI contract. Honeywell’s BESS technology offers automation, safety, and efficiency control, allowing for remote operations and grid management.
