Heliene partners with NorSun for domestic wafer supply in the U.S. solar manufacturing expansion

Minnesota-based solar panel manufacturer Heliene has secured a domestic wafer supply by signing a multi-year contract with Norwegian company NorSun. This partnership follows Heliene’s recent announcement of its collaboration with Premier Energies to produce silicon solar cells in Minnesota. Heliene plans to reach an annual capacity of 1 GW at its Minnesota cell factory, with the start date still to be announced.

NorSun, which has been producing silicon wafers in Norway since 2007, plans to establish a 5-GW wafer factory in Tulsa, Oklahoma, expected to begin production in 2026. The wafers produced at this facility will be used in Heliene’s solar modules, enhancing the U.S. solar supply chain.
