GUVNL issues tender for 400 MW battery energy storage system

Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (GUVNL) has issued a tender for the establishment of a 400 MW/800 MWh standalone battery energy storage system (BESS), with an additional greenshoe option for the same capacity. The deadline for bid submissions is October 16, 2024.

The tender scope includes the setup of the BESS and its interconnection with the state transmission network. The primary goal is to ensure that the energy storage facility can be charged and discharged by GUVNL on demand.

Bidders are required to submit a document fee of Rs 29,500, an earnest money deposit of Rs 500,000, and a bank performance guarantee of Rs 1.25 million per MW. Additionally, there is a document processing fee of Rs 1.5 million plus 18% GST. To qualify for the auction, bidders must have a net worth greater than Rs 7.4 million per MW in the previous financial year or seven days before the bid submission deadline.

Previously, in August 2024, GUVNL issued a tender for purchasing power from 500 MW of grid-connected solar power projects (Phase XXV), with a greenshoe option for an additional 500 MW. In July 2024, GUVNL invited bids from developers to procure power from 500 MW of wind power projects in India.
