NHPC Limited has awarded bids to four firms for developing 2,170 MW of Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS)-connected solar power projects across India under Tranche-IX. The projects will be developed on a build, own, and operate (BOO) basis.

ReNew Solar Power Private Limited (ReNew Power Ventures Private Limited) emerged as the largest winner, securing a total of 900 MW, including base and greenshoe capacities. The company quoted tariffs of Rs 2.47 per kWh and Rs 2.43 per kWh for different capacities.

Avaada Energy Private Limited (Avaada Power Private Limited) secured 600 MW at a tariff of Rs 2.47 per kWh, while Teerth Gopicon Limited won 70 MW by quoting Rs 2.43 per kWh.

In October 2024, NHPC invited bids for 1,200 MW of ISTS-connected solar power projects, with a greenshoe option allowing an additional 1,200 MW. The total awarded capacity under Tranche-IX now stands at 2,170 MW.

The selected developers will be responsible for land acquisition, project installation, obtaining approvals, and interconnecting with the ISTS network. They must also develop a dedicated transmission network to supply power to NHPC.

The initiative aligns with India’s push for renewable energy expansion and is expected to enhance solar power integration into the national grid.
