EmberClear seeks funding for two 900 MW power projects in Texas
EmberClear Management has submitted loan applications to the Texas Energy Fund for two major power projects, each with a capacity of 900 MW. The EmberYork Energy Center in Austin County and the EmberGreen Energy Center in Wharton County will collectively deliver 1.8 GW of natural gas-fired electricity to the Houston area.
These plants are strategically located near large interstate natural gas pipelines and significant storage facilities, ensuring a reliable gas supply. Both facilities are connected to the Matterhorn pipeline, which has a 2 billion cubic feet per day capacity. EmberClear has partnered with ConocoPhillips for a firm gas supply via the Matterhorn pipeline.
The projects are designed to provide rapid response during peak demand or emergencies, capable of reaching full capacity in under ten minutes. EmberClear has begun discussions with a leading gas turbine manufacturer to align equipment delivery with the project’s development and construction timeline.
These projects, supported by the Texas Energy Fund, aim to strengthen the ERCOT grid, ensuring energy reliability for Houston and the Texas Gulf Coast. EmberClear’s track record includes the successful launch of the $700 million Birdsboro power plant in Pennsylvania and the ongoing construction of the $1.5 billion, 1.2GW Lincoln Land Energy Center in Illinois.
