Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) has re-issued tenders for setting up 234 MW/328 MWp floating solar power projects on Maithon Dam. The bids were re-invited on May 9, 2025, with the submission deadline set for June 16, 2025.
The project will be located across Dhanbad in Jharkhand and Paschim Bardhaman in West Bengal. Earlier bids for the same scope were floated in December 2024.
The scope includes detailed surveys and investigations, design and engineering, procurement, supply, construction, and commissioning of grid-connected floating solar power plants. The contract also includes 10 years of comprehensive operation and maintenance (O&M) on a turnkey basis.
The selected bidder will also be responsible for developing civil infrastructure, including roads and drains (excluding the control room building), and setting up the power evacuation system up to the H-Pole at the 33/132 kV substation.
The work is to be completed within 18 months. The 234 MW/328 MWp capacity will be implemented in four blocks of 58.5 MW each.
The project is part of a broader floating solar initiative by Green Valley Renewable Energy Limited (GVREL), a joint venture between DVC and NTPC Limited. GVREL is developing floating solar projects on Maithon, Tilaya, Konar, and Panchet dams across Jharkhand and West Bengal.
