Canadian Solar’s subsidiary, CSI Solar, has secured a turnkey engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for a 100MW/200MWh energy storage project with Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV) in Victoria, Australia. This project marks Australia’s first standalone energy storage facility, set to begin construction in August 2024.

FRV Australia, backed by the Canadian infrastructure fund OMERS and a subsidiary of Jameel Energy, is leading the development. CSI Solar’s e-STORAGE division will supply its advanced SolBank 3.0 technology, which offers a 45% increase in capacity and a 12% reduction in space requirements compared to previous models. Each 20ft SolBank 3.0 container delivers over 5MWh of storage capacity, featuring an efficient cooling system and multi-level fire safety measures.
