The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has approved Sunsure Power Markets Private Limited’s petition for a Category V trading license, allowing it to conduct inter-state electricity trading across all states and union territories in India.
The commission determined that Sunsure Power Markets met the eligibility criteria specified in the Trading Licence Regulations. Consequently, the commission directed the issuance of the Category V trading license, subject to compliance with specific conditions throughout its 25-year validity. These conditions include adherence to the Electricity Act, Rules, and Trading Licence Regulations, compliance with commission directives, prohibition from engaging in electricity transmission, and adherence to trading margin regulations. Additionally, the company must maintain the required qualifications as outlined in the Trading Licence Regulations.
The commission also directed that a public notice be issued under Section 15(5)(a) of the Electricity Act, inviting suggestions or objections regarding the decision.
