CenterPoint Energy’s Indiana utility seeks proposals for diverse energy generation by 2028
CenterPoint Energy’s Indiana-based electric utility has issued an All-Source Request for Proposals (RFP) for generation capacity to be operational by March 2028. The RFP invites proposals for utility-scale solar, wind, and storage projects (either standalone or paired), as well as thermal generation, load-modifying resources, demand-side resources, and other innovative solutions.
Shane Bradford, CenterPoint’s Vice President for Indiana Electric, emphasized that the RFP will help the company explore a wide range of technologies for its long-term generation strategy. Proposals are due by October 8, 2024.
This RFP follows CenterPoint’s resource plan for Indiana released last year, which outlines the utility’s goal to reduce carbon emissions from its generation fleet by over 95% within the next 20 years. The plan includes phasing out Indiana coal by 2027, and by 2030, the company expects more than 80% of its electricity to come from solar and wind, with the remainder generated by natural gas.
