The Central Government has laid the foundation stone for three hydroelectric projects (HEPs) in Himachal Pradesh. These projects are:

  • Luhri Hydro Electric Project Stage I: This project involves constructing an 86 m high concrete gravity dam across the Satluj river near Nirath village. It will generate 210 MW of hydro power at an estimated cost of Rs 18.10 billion.
  • Sunni Dam Hydro Electric Project: A Run-of-River (RoR) scheme on the Satluj River near Khaira village, covering Shimla and Mandi districts. The project, with a total capacity of 382 MW, is being implemented with an investment of Rs 30 billion.
  • Dhaulasidh Hydro Electric Project: This 66 MW project is being developed on the Beas river in Hamirpur and Kangra districts at an investment of Rs 6.87 billion.

SJVN Limited is implementing these projects on a build, own, operate, and maintain (BOOM) basis.
