BHEL secures Rs 133 billion EPC contract for DVC’s Koderma thermal power project
Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has officially announced winning the EPC contract worth Rs 133 billion for Damodar Valley Corporation’s (DVC) Koderma thermal power project in Jharkhand. BHEL will establish a 2×800 MW coal-fired supercritical power plant in Koderma district on an EPC basis.
The project scope includes the supply, erection, commissioning, and civil works. Key equipment will be provided by BHEL’s manufacturing units in Haridwar, Trichy, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Bhopal, and Ranipet, while the site execution will be managed by BHEL’s Power Sector – Eastern Region. The project also includes the installation of highly efficient emission control equipment.
This is DVC’s first 800 MW project and will be located next to the existing 2×500 MW units, also installed by BHEL on an EPC basis. BHEL has a strong partnership with DVC, having installed over 80% of DVC’s coal-based power stations in Jharkhand and West Bengal.
