Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) package of the Amarkantak Thermal Power Expansion Project. 

Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Limited (MPPGCL) invited bids for the project in February 2024, and BHEL quoted Rs 89.98 billion.

The project involves developing a 660 MW supercritical unit at Chachai in Anuppur district, Madhya Pradesh, replacing the decommissioned 290 MW units from Phases I and II.
