BEE, NTH partner to enhance energy efficiency standards
The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and the National Test House (NTH) have signed an MoU to strengthen the Standards & Labeling (S&L) Program, which promotes energy efficiency across India.
BEE Secretary Milind Deore and NTH Director General Alok Kumar Srivastava signed the MoU in the presence of Ministry of Power Secretary Pankaj Agarwal and Department of Consumer Affairs Secretary Nidhi Khare. This collaboration aims to improve the accuracy and reliability of energy performance standards, enabling Indian consumers to make informed choices.
Under the agreement, NTH will act as a referral laboratory for BEE, resolving technical disputes related to test results. NTH will also provide training for BEE officers and support the enhancement of BEE’s laboratory capabilities. This partnership will ensure that appliances meet stringent energy performance standards.
NTH will participate in testing processes and contribute to BEE’s technical committees. The MoU includes reviewing the S&L Program and check testing procedures to ensure the accuracy of star labels and prevent misuse.
This collaboration will ensure that consumers receive reliable information about the energy efficiency of appliances, leading to smarter and more sustainable choices.
