Bajel Projects Ltd has secured a key engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract from Kurnool-IV Power Transmission Ltd, a subsidiary of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL).
The order involves building a 765kV double-circuit transmission line connecting Kurnool-IV substation to Kurnool-III Pooling Station (PS), both located in Andhra Pradesh. The line is expected to cover about 250 circuit kilometers (ckm).
The project is part of the larger “Transmission system for integration of Kurnool-IV REZ – Phase I (for 4.5 GW),” which aims to support renewable energy evacuation from the Kurnool region. PGCIL secured the scheme on March 24, 2025, through the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) route.
The contract value is over Rs 4 billion, including GST. Bajel Projects is expected to complete the work within 23 months from the date of award.
The Phase I transmission system also includes setting up a 4×1500 MVA, 765/400kV and 4×500 MVA, 400/220kV Kurnool-IV Pooling Station. It features 765kV lines stretching 375 km to Bidar and 127 km to Kurnool-III, along with other supporting infrastructure.
