Aslan Energy, PT Calypte Sugi to develop 2 GW solar power hub on Sugi Island

Singapore’s Aslan Energy Capital (AEC) and Indonesia’s PT Calypte Sugi Power have signed an agreement to develop a major power generation hub on Sugi Island in Indonesia’s Riau Islands Province. This partnership aims to establish large-scale solar and sustainable clean power generation capacity.

With feasibility studies completed and showing promising results, the project will move into detailed engineering in the coming months, with the final investment decision expected by the second quarter of 2025.

The initial phase of the project targets 1 GW of solar power production capacity by the third quarter of 2026, with plans to expand to a total capacity of 2 GW by the fourth quarter of 2027.
