ACCIONA Energía has acquired two wind farms in Texas, Green Pastures I and Green Pastures II, each with a capacity of 150 MW.
Located in Baylor and Knox Counties, these fully operational projects were acquired from private asset management firms for $202.5 million, boosting ACCIONA’s total installed capacity in the US.
The two wind farms are integrated into the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) grid, which handles 90% of Texas’s electricity. Together, they will generate approximately 1.1 terawatt hours (TWh) of renewable energy annually, supporting ACCIONA’s commitment to the US energy transition.
This acquisition increases ACCIONA’s North American capacity to 2.8 GW and strengthens its renewable energy portfolio through geographical diversification.
In a related development, ACCIONA Energía recently agreed to sell its Spanish hydroelectric assets under Acciona Saltos de Agua, SL to Elawan Energy for €287 million ($310 million). The portfolio includes 23 hydroelectric plants with a combined capacity of 175 MW across Aragón, Cantabria, and Cataluña.
