Uttarakhand approves geothermal energy policy to tap Himalayan hot springs

The Uttarakhand cabinet has approved the Uttarakhand Geo-Thermal Energy Policy 2025 to promote scientific research and development of geothermal energy resources in the state.  The decision was made at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on July 9, 2025, according to Hindustan Times. Servotech secures Rs 302 million rooftop solar project in Uttarakhand

Servotech Power Systems has won a 5.6 MW on-grid rooftop solar power plant order worth Rs 302 million from the Uttarakhand New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UREDA).  The company will oversee the design, supply, installation, net metering, testing, and commissioning of the solar plants. The Board of Directors of Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (UJVN) has approved civil and hydro-mechanical (H&M) works for the 120 MW Sirkari Bhyol-Rupsiabagar Hydro Electric Project.  The project, comprising three units of 40 MW each, will be developed on the Goriganga River in Munsiyari, Pithoragarh district, with an investment of Rs 8.79 billion. THDC India Limited synchronised Unit I of the Tehri Pumped Storage Plant Project with the National Grid on November 19, 2024.  Furthermore, the coal firing was also achieved within a few hours of oil synchronisation. THDC, a joint venture (JV) of NTPC Limited and the Government of Uttar Pradesh (GoUP), is implementing the project.
