CEA releases report on Right-of-Way width for transmission lines

The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has released a report on Right-of-Way (RoW) width calculations for transmission lines using monopole towers and HTLS conductors. The report compares configurations and highlights challenges like higher costs and limited manufacturing for monopole structures. It supplements the July 2020 guidelines and was compiled by a 13-member committee.

CTUIL approves Rs 4 billion transmission projects to boost infrastructure

CTUIL has approved seven interstate transmission system (ISTS) schemes worth Rs 4 billion under the regulatory tariff mechanism (RTM). Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) or its TBCB subsidiaries will execute these projects, spanning the eastern, western, and northern regions, with completion expected between 2025 and 2027.

Himachal Pradesh approves two pumped storage projects

The Himachal Pradesh government has approved two pumped storage projects: the 1,630 MW Renukaji project in Sirmaur and the 270 MW Thana Plaun project in Mandi. Both projects, assigned to Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation (HPPCL), are underway.  

Sealmatic India and Apraava Energy win major power projects

Sealmatic India secured a contract to supply mechanical seals for DVC Raghunathpur Thermal Power Station Phase-II (2×660 MW) through BHEL, to be completed within 24 weeks. Apraava Energy also won a 200 km interstate transmission project in Rajasthan to evacuate 5.5 GW of renewable energy, contributing to India’s green energy goals and creating 1,000 jobs.

Octopus Energy acquires UK renewables developer Exagen Group

Octopus Energy Generation has acquired Exagen Group, a UK-based renewables and energy storage developer, boosting its development pipeline of over 2.4 GW in solar and energy storage projects. 

Vestas secures 134 MW wind turbine order from Invenergy in Japan

Vestas has received its largest order in Japan, a 134 MW contract from Invenergy for the Inaniwa Wind Energy Center in Iwate prefecture. Vestas will supply 32 V117-4.2 MW turbines and provide a 20-year service agreement. Deliveries will begin in 2027, with commissioning in early 2028.

RWE partners with Port of Setúbal to develop offshore wind logistics hub

RWE is partnering with the Port of Setúbal in Portugal to create a logistics hub for floating offshore wind energy. The hub will support the assembly and deployment of floating substructures and mooring systems.  

AMEA Power to invest USD 800 million in solar and battery storage in Egypt

AMEA Power plans to invest USD 800 million in Egypt’s largest solar PV plant and first utility-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) in Benban, Aswan. The project will include a 1,000 MW solar plant and a 600 MWh BESS.
