Oxford scientists develop groundbreaking perovskite solar technology
A team of scientists at Oxford University has made a significant breakthrough in solar technology with the development of an ultra-thin, light-absorbing material made from perovskite. This new technology could transform everyday objects into power-generating surfaces, offering a sustainable solution to the growing demand for renewable energy. Perovskite coatings are far more efficient at absorbing solar energy compared to traditional silicon-based panels. These coatings are over a micron thick, making them 150 times thinner than…

Gujarat hydropower plants made a record in electricity generation in August’24
In August 2024, Gujarat’s hydropower plants generated 1,067.3 million units (MU) of electricity, a rise from 308.7 MU in July, due to monsoon-driven water inflows filling the state’s dams, according to ANI. The Sardar Sarovar Dam was the largest contributor, generating over 800 MU, with its River Bed Power House (RBPH) and Canal Head Power House (CHPH) stations producing a combined total of 891 MU. Additional contributions came from the Ukai Dam, which generated 143.1…
Amea Power begins construction of 24 MW solar project in Uganda
Dubai-based developer Amea Power has started building a 24 MW solar project in the West Nile region of northwestern Uganda. The Ituka project, located on a 52-hectare site in Ombachi village, about 450 km from Kampala, will be the first solar project in the region.
