Pace Digitek’s subsidiary opens battery R&D centre in Pune

Pace Digitek Limited has announced the establishment of a dedicated research and development facility for advanced battery technologies by its material subsidiary, Lineage Power Private Limited (LPPL). The new centre, located in Pune, will focus on Advanced Chemistry Cells (ACC) and energy storage technologies as the company expands its capabilities in battery research.

The facility, named the Pace-Lineage Research Center, will undertake research on lithium-ion and sodium-ion battery materials, with an emphasis on improving battery capacity, cycling stability and cell performance.

Research focus

The centre’s activities will cover multiple aspects of battery development, including optimisation of material coatings, tuning of material microstructure and porosity, development of new electrolytes, material characterisation and electrochemical evaluation.

In addition, the facility will work on optimising cell parameters and evaluating raw materials sourced from domestic suppliers. According to the company, the initiative is intended to support the development of indigenous battery technologies and strengthen local supply chains for advanced energy storage systems.

Academic collaboration

As part of the initiative, Lineage Power has entered into a research collaboration with the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune.

The partnership will focus on joint research in advanced battery technologies and battery materials, bringing together academic expertise and industrial applications in the field of energy storage.

Strategic plans

Pace Digitek stated that the R&D facility forms part of its long-term strategy to expand its engineering and research capabilities in ACC technologies and advanced battery systems. The company said the initiative aligns with the objectives of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India.

Commenting on the development, Venugopal Rao Maddisetty, Chairman & Managing Director of Pace Digitek, said, “Technology and innovation will play a defining role in the future of energy storage. The announcement comes at a time when India’s energy storage sector is witnessing increased investment, driven by renewable energy integration, grid modernisation and growing demand for reliable storage solutions.
