CG Power bags PGCIL’s Rs 289 crore 420 kV reactor order

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) has awarded a contract worth approximately Rs 289 crore to CG Power and Industrial Solutions Limited for the supply of 420 kV reactors under its bulk procurement programme.

The contract forms part of Lot-6 of PGCIL’s bulk procurement package covering 765 kV and 400 kV class transformers and reactors. Four manufacturers participated in the tender, with CG Power emerging as the lowest bidder.

The contract includes the supply of 27 reactors across three capacity ratings—50 MVAR, 63 MVAR and 80 MVAR—for the 420 kV voltage class.

The reactors will be deployed across PGCIL’s transmission network to provide reactive power compensation and support voltage regulation and grid stability.

Apart from CG Power, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Kanohar Electrics Limited and Siemens Energy India Limited participated in the tender.

The contract was awarded through a competitive bidding process under PGCIL’s bulk procurement framework.

PGCIL has increasingly adopted bulk procurement for major transmission equipment to standardise specifications, aggregate demand and reduce procurement timelines.

The approach is intended to improve execution efficiency and optimise costs as the utility expands the interstate transmission network to support rising electricity demand and renewable energy integration.
