SJVN signs PPAs with GUVNL for 658 MW of hydro projects. The agreements secure long-term power offtake.

SJVN Limited has signed Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) for the supply of power from three hydroelectric projects in Himachal Pradesh with a combined capacity of 658 MW. The agreements cover the 66 MW Dhaulasidh Hydro Electric Project (HEP), the 210 MW Luhri Stage-I HEP and the 382 MW Sunni Dam HEP.

The PPAs were signed in Vadodara, Gujarat, by Aman Katoch, General Manager (C&SO), SJVN, and Sanjay Mathur, General Manager (Commerce), GUVNL, in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.

According to SJVN, the agreements strengthen its portfolio of long-term power sale arrangements with utilities across the country.

Project details

The 210 MW Luhri Hydro Electric Project Stage-I is located near Nirath village on the Satluj River in Himachal Pradesh. The project includes an 86-metre-high concrete gravity dam and is being developed at an estimated cost of Rs 18.10 billion.

The 382 MW Sunni Dam Hydro Electric Project is a run-of-the-river scheme on the Satluj River near Khaira village across Shimla and Mandi districts. The project will comprise six generating units, including five units of 73 MW each and one unit of 17 MW, and is being developed at an estimated cost of Rs 30 billion.

The 66 MW Dhaulasidh Hydro Electric Project is being developed on the Beas River across Hamirpur and Kangra districts in the Indus river basin. The project has an estimated cost of Rs 6.87 billion.
