RECPDCL hands over Tumkur-II REZ Transmission project to G R Infraprojects
REC Power Development & Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL), a subsidiary of REC Ltd, handed over the special purpose vehicle (SPV) “Tumkur-II REZ Power Transmission Ltd” to G R Infraprojects Ltd (GRIL) on September 3, 2024, in Gurugram. GRIL was selected as the transmission service provider (TSP) through a tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process managed by RECPDCL for the development of this transmission project on a build, own, operate & transfer (BOOT) basis.
The handover ceremony saw T.S.C. Bosh, CEO of RECPDCL, transfer the SPV to Saurabh Kaushik, Head of Business Development & Strategy at GRIL, with senior officials from RECPDCL, GRIL, and Central Transmission Utility of India Ltd in attendance.
The interstate transmission system (ISTS) project, known as the “Transmission scheme for integration of Tumkur-II REZ in Karnataka,” aims to be completed in 24 months. It involves setting up a 400/220kV, 4×500 MVA pooling station near Tumkur, Karnataka, and constructing a 27.2 km 400kV transmission line with associated infrastructure.
G R Infraprojects Ltd had emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for this project during the e-reverse auction conducted on August 6, 2024. This marks GRIL’s third ISTS project secured under the TBCB mode, following the Rajgarh Transmission Ltd project, which is now operational, and the Pachora Power Transmission Ltd project, awarded in May 2024.
