NCL Industries approves 130 MW solar-wind project in Tamil Nadu

NCL Industries Limited has approved a 130 MW renewable energy project combining solar and wind generation in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu. The decision was taken at the company’s board meeting held on April 13, 2026.

The project will be implemented in phases. Phase 1, comprising 50 MW, has been approved with an investment of Rs 392 crores, to be funded through a mix of debt and internal accruals. The remaining 80 MW will be developed subsequently, taking the total project cost to Rs 919 crores. The full project is scheduled for completion by February 2028.

The project has secured final connectivity and transmission access approval from the Central Transmission Utility of India Limited (CTUIL). It includes the development of evacuation and transmission infrastructure. The generated power will be used for captive consumption and for sale through power exchanges and third-party purchase agreements.

NCL Industries currently operates 15.75 MW of hydro power capacity, with a capacity utilisation of 28.00%. The proposed solar and wind project marks an expansion of its generation portfolio into renewable energy.
