Vihaan Clean & Green Tech Private Limited has launched a biomass-based boiler plant in Gujarat under its Phase 2 expansion, with the facility designed to operate entirely on biomass fuel and expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 81,000 tonnes annually.
The plant uses agricultural residue as its primary fuel, converting crop waste into steam for industrial applications. The company stated that the system enables consistent steam generation while improving energy efficiency, providing an alternative to fossil fuel-based boilers using locally sourced biomass.
For technology integration, the company has engaged Thermax Limited and Thermax Onsite Energy Solutions Limited (TOESL) to deploy established boiler systems at the facility. These partnerships are aimed at ensuring operational reliability and performance at scale.
Amit Badlani said the project focuses on developing industrial energy systems that combine reliability with sustainability, and indicated that the model could be replicated across other industrial clusters in India.
The project is aligned with circular economy principles, utilising agricultural waste for industrial energy use instead of open burning. It also supports the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative by reducing reliance on imported fossil fuels through domestic biomass utilisation.
