Sunsure Energy has signed three long-term open-access power purchase agreements (PPAs) with Wonder Cement for a combined capacity of 30 MWp, the company announced.
Under the agreements, Sunsure has started supplying solar power to Wonder Cement’s manufacturing units in Dhule, Maharashtra and Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. The Dhule facility is being supplied from Sunsure’s 150 MWp plant in Solapur, while the Aligarh unit is sourcing power from its 49 MWp plant in Augasi. The solar supply is expected to replace 67% of grid electricity consumption at Dhule and 52% at Aligarh.
The agreements are estimated to reduce carbon emissions by around 33,000 metric tonnes annually.
In a separate development last month, Sunsure signed a PPA with Jakson Engineering Limited to supply solar power to its corporate office in Noida and a manufacturing facility in Greater Noida.
Sunsure, backed by Partners Group AG with an equity commitment of $400 million, currently operates 700 MW of assets and has 7.1 GW under development across Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Karnataka. The company is targeting 10 GW of capacity by 2030, with a focus on industrial decarbonisation for commercial and industrial consumers as well as utilities.
