Atlanta Electricals Limited has received approval from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited to manufacture up to 400 kV class transformers at its Vadod facility in Gujarat, achieving the milestone within two years of groundbreaking at the site.
The approval enables Atlanta Electricals to participate in extra-high voltage transformer tenders issued by Power Grid. Participation in 400 kV tenders will remain subject to meeting qualifying requirements and successful completion of a short-circuit test. The Vadod facility has already secured National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) accreditation for in-house testing of transformers up to 400 kV.
The company stated that approvals from Power Grid and NABL support its plans to reach peak utilisation of 63,000 MVA at the Vadod facility.
Niral Patel, Chairman and Managing Director, said the approval reflects the company’s recent investments in the facility and supports manufacturing of high-capacity units required for grid modernisation and renewable energy evacuation. He added that the certification aligns with India’s projected transmission capital expenditure of Rs 9.6 trillion through 2032.
Atlanta Electricals manufactures power transformers ranging from 5 MVA/11 kV to 500 MVA/765 kV, along with auto transformers, inverter duty transformers, furnace transformers, generator transformers, and specialised transformers across five facilities in Gujarat and Karnataka. As of December 31, 2025, the company had supplied 4,710 transformers with a total capacity of 1,07,229 MVA.
