In July 2024, India’s power sector saw the addition of 4,360 MVA to its transformation capacity. This brought the total capacity added for the fiscal year 2024-25, up to July, to 14,620 MVA. As a result, the current total transformation capacity in India reached 12,65,700 MVA.

The Central Sector added 4,815 MVA in July. Powergrid, a key player in this sector, contributed 2,815 MVA to this total. The State Sector added 9,805 MVA. Andhra Pradesh added 670 MVA, Tamil Nadu contributed 1,900 MVA, and Uttar Pradesh increased its capacity by 2,740 MVA.

Although the private sector did not add any new transformation capacity in July 2024, there are plans for future expansion. Adani and Megha Engineering are expected to add 6,000 MVA each.
