Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has been declared the successful bidder for an intra-state transmission project in Maharashtra under the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) framework, the company informed exchanges today.
The Letter of Intent (LoI) was received on February 11, 2026, for the project titled “Network Expansion scheme in Maharashtra for removal of Transmission constraints in Pune Region-I (765/400 kV AIS Pune East).” The project will be implemented on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis.
The scope includes setting up an air-insulated substation (AIS) in Ahilyanagar District and constructing 765 kV and 400 kV transmission lines across Maharashtra. Bay extension works will also be carried out at existing substations in the state.
The network expansion scheme in Maharashtra aims to address transmission constraints in Pune Region-I at the 765/400 kV AIS Pune East substation. The plan provides for two 1,500 MVA, 765/400 kV interconnecting transformers (ICTs) and a 240 MVAr bus reactor at 765 kV. The substation will include multiple bays for ICTs, lines and reactors, with provisions for additional 765 kV and 400 kV line bays in the future.
The project further involves line-in-line-out (LILO) of both circuits from the existing 765 kV Pune (GIS) Shikrapur to the proposed 765 kV Pune-III (GIS) at Pune East. Two 400 kV double-circuit lines will connect Pune East to the existing 400 kV AIS Karjat and Lonikand-II substations. Line end bays will be added at Karjat and Lonikand-II, with two 400 kV bays each.
The scheduled completion period for both schemes is 24 months from the effective date.
The Pune Region-I project was tendered by PFC Consulting Limited (PFCCL), which issued the Request for Proposal (RFP) documents on August 6, 2025. Technical bids were opened on December 9, 2025, and four bidders were declared qualified for the Initial Offer stage: Resonia Limited, Adani Energy Solutions Limited, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, and GR Infraprojects Limited.
The transmission project titled “Transmission Scheme for Establishment of 400/220 kV AIS Wagdari (Dist. Solapur)” followed a parallel bidding schedule. PFCCL issued RFP documents for this project on August 6, 2025, and technical bids were opened on December 10, 2025. Six bidders were declared qualified for the Wagdari project: Adani Energy Solutions Limited, KCC Buildcon Limited, Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited, Montecarlo Limited, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, and Resonia Limited.
