TotalEnergies has entered into two long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) to supply 1 GW of solar capacity to Google’s data centres in Texas. The transaction represents TotalEnergies’ largest single renewable energy PPA concluded in the United States to date.
The 15-year agreements will deliver around 28 TWh of renewable electricity from two TotalEnergies-owned solar projects under development in Texas. These include the 805 MWp Wichita project and the 195 MWp Mustang Creek project. Construction of both facilities is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2026.
The 1 GW contracted capacity complements a separate 1.2 GW of PPAs recently secured by Clearway Energy, which is 50% owned by TotalEnergies. Together, the agreements are intended to support Google’s data centres across multiple regional power markets in the United States.
Company executives said the deal aligns with TotalEnergies’ strategy of offering customised renewable energy solutions to large digital infrastructure operators. The Wichita and Mustang Creek projects are expected to create several hundred jobs during the construction phase and generate long-term local tax revenues over their operating lives. Google said the agreement adds new, affordable generation capacity to the regional power system and supports grid stability.
The PPAs add to TotalEnergies’ expanding portfolio of corporate renewable energy contracts with global industrial and technology companies. The group currently operates a gross portfolio of around 10 GW of onshore renewable and storage assets in the United States and is targeting more than 100 TWh of net electricity production globally from its renewable portfolio by 2030.
