REC, SJVN assign additional charges for key leadership roles

REC Limited and SJVN Limited have announced changes to their senior leadership after directives from the Ministry of Power.
At REC Limited, the Ministry of Power has assigned the additional charge of Director Finance to the company’s Chairman and Managing Director, Shri Jitendra Srivastava. The arrangement takes effect from February 1, 2026, and will remain in place for three months or until a regular Director Finance is appointed, whichever is earlier.
The change follows the superannuation of Shri Harsh Baweja, who served as Director Finance and Chief Financial Officer. Shri Baweja ceased to hold these positions with effect from February 1, 2026, after superannuating on January 31, 2026.
Separately, SJVN Limited has extended the additional charge of Chairman and Managing Director to Shri Bhupender Gupta, who is concurrently the Chairman and Managing Director of NHPC Limited. The extension was directed by the Ministry of Power through an order dated January 30, 2026, and is effective from February 1, 2026. The arrangement is valid for six months, or until a full time Chairman and Managing Director is appointed, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Shri Gupta has over 34 years of experience in the power sector. His career includes senior roles across public sector undertakings such as SJVN, REC Limited, and NHPC Limited, with work spanning hydro, thermal, renewable energy, transmission, and distribution projects.
In an additional disclosure, SJVN informed that Shri Anil Kumar ceased to be part of the company’s senior management following his superannuation. This change took effect at the close of business hours on January 30, 2026.
