POWERGRID charges 765 kV Bhadla II–Sikar II transmission line
Author: PPD Team Date: January 13, 2026
Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has charged the 765 kV double circuit Bhadla II–Sikar II (2nd) transmission line, strengthening the high capacity transmission corridor for evacuation of renewable energy from Rajasthan.
The charging was carried out by POWERGRID Bhadla Sikar Transmission Limited (PBSTL), a tariff based competitive bidding subsidiary of POWERGRID. Sh. G. Ravisankar, Director (Finance), and Sh. Abhinav Verma, Chief General Manager (Head, Rajasthan Projects), along with other senior officials, were present on the occasion.
PBSTL was incorporated on 13 May 2020 and was acquired by POWERGRID on 28 March 2023. The project is currently under implementation. It is part of the Transmission System Strengthening Scheme for Evacuation of Power from Solar Energy Zones in Rajasthan with a capacity of 8.1 GW under Phase II Part E, being developed on a build, own, operate and maintain basis.
The scope of the project includes the Bhadla II Power Station to Sikar II 765 kV double circuit transmission line (2nd), along with two 765 kV line bays each at Bhadla II and Sikar II substations. The scheme also comprises one 330 MVAr switchable line reactor for each circuit at the Sikar II end, along with associated switching equipment, and one 240 MVAr switchable line reactor for each circuit at the Bhadla II end, with corresponding switching equipment.
The commissioning of this line is expected to support large scale evacuation of solar power from Rajasthan’s renewable energy zones and enhance grid reliability in the region.
