Websol Energy System has entered an MoU with Linton Crystal Technologies to assess PV ingot and wafer manufacturing in India. The plan includes the purchase of ingot and wafer production equipment from Linton and the transfer of technical support and training to Websol’s team.
The collaboration aims to lower dependence on imported ingots and wafers and improve local manufacturing capability. Linton will guide equipment operations and help optimise related processes.
Linton Crystal Technologies is based in Rochester, New York. The company designs and manufactures Czochralski furnaces and process control systems for crystal growth. Its portfolio includes CZ growers and crystal processing equipment used for high-quality ingots and wafers. The company has worked in this field for more than three decades.
In November, Websol Energy signed an MoU with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board to study a 4 GW integrated solar cell and module manufacturing project. The facility will be set up through a subsidiary and is part of Websol’s plan to expand capacity to 5200 MW in two phases. The project remains under evaluation.
