Adani Green Energy sets up two new hydro energy subsidiaries
Adani Green Energy Limited has set up two step down subsidiaries to expand its renewable portfolio. Adani Hydro Energy Thirteen Limited and Adani Hydro Energy Sixteen Limited were incorporated on 21 November 2025 and are fully owned by Adani Saur Urja KA Limited. AGEL informed the exchanges on the same date. The entities will focus on renewable generation and related activities across wind, solar and other clean sources. AGEL said the incorporations align with its core business.
PFC forms SPV for NERGS III and issues tender for Tumkur II transmission upgrade
Power Finance Corporation has created NERGS III Siang Basin Transmission Limited as a new Special Purpose Vehicle under PFC Consulting. The SPV will execute the NERGS III Siang Basin transmission project, which supports evacuation from the Heo and Tato I hydropower projects and future development in the Siang sub basin. The Ministry of Power appointed PFC Consulting as Bid Process Coordinator on 18 September 2025. The project is estimated at Rs 1,804 crore with planned commissioning in February 2029.
PFC Consulting has also issued a tender to strengthen the Tumkur II substation in Karnataka for integrating 2.7 GW of renewable capacity. The upgrade includes new ICT units, a 400 kV quad double circuit line, a ±300 MVAr STATCOM and additional 220 kV bays. Bidders need an earnest money deposit of 145 million dollars and a performance guarantee of 362.5 million dollars. Bids are due on 23 January 2026.
Ceigall India wins Velgaon intrastate transmission project in Maharashtra
Ceigall India Ltd has received the letter of intent for the Velgaon intrastate transmission scheme in Maharashtra under tariff based competitive bidding. REC Power Development and Consultancy selected the company as L1 bidder with a quoted tariff of about Rs 58.50 crore. The scheme involves a 400/220 kV GIS substation at Velgaon with an estimated cost of about Rs 380 crore. This is Ceigall India’s first move into transmission development. The project has a 24 month period and will connect to several existing lines through LILO arrangements.
Ecoren to invest Rs 763 billion in clean energy projects in Andhra Pradesh
Ecoren Group has signed a MoU with the Andhra Pradesh government to build large scale clean energy projects. The plan involves Rs 762.50 billion in investment for 8 GW of renewable capacity and 1.25 million tonnes per annum of green molecules. The initiative is expected to generate more than 12,000 jobs. Ecoren has 1.5 GW of commissioned capacity and 4.3 GW of contracted projects. The company said the partnership supports the state’s long term energy goals and broader economic activity.

First Solar opens AI-enabled solar plant in Louisiana
First Solar has begun operations at its 1.1 billion dollar manufacturing facility in Iberia Parish, Louisiana. The 2.4 million square foot plant uses AI systems to detect defects and started production in July 2025 ahead of schedule. The early launch was linked to the One Big Beautiful Bill Act and trade measures that increased demand for US made modules. The plant produces Series 7 modules and employs more than 700 people, with staffing expected to reach 826 this year. Once fully ramped up, it will add 3.5 GW of annual capacity and raise First Solar’s US footprint to 17.7 GW by 2027.
