Ceigall India Ltd is set to take over the Velgaon intrastate transmission scheme in Maharashtra after receiving the letter of intent from REC Power Development and Consultancy on 23 November 2025. The project will be developed under the tariff-based competitive bidding framework.
REC Power Development and Consultancy named Ceigall India the L1 bidder with a quoted tariff of about Rs 58.50 crore. The scheme involves establishing a 400/220 kV GIS substation at Velgaon and carries an estimated cost of about Rs 380 crore. This marks Ceigall India’s entry into the transmission development segment. The company has so far been active in EPC and annuity projects in the roads and highways sector. Velgaon is also assessed to be the first intrastate transmission project in Maharashtra to be executed under the tariff based competitive bidding route. Â
The project has a 24 month development period. It includes a new 3×500 MVA 400/220 kV GIS substation at Velgaon in Palghar tehsil of Thane district with six ICT bays, four 400 kV line bays and ten 220 kV line bays. The substation will be connected to existing lines such as Tarapur Kudus, Dahanu Ghodbunder, Boisar Borivali, Dahanu Versova and Boisar Versova through LILO arrangements.
