The Madhya Pradesh government has introduced the Samadhan Yojana 2025–26, a one-time settlement plan to recover Rs 120 billion in unpaid electricity dues from about 9.2 million consumers. The scheme provides surcharge waivers of up to 90% for domestic and agricultural users, and up to 80% for non-domestic and industrial consumers, depending on the timing of their lump-sum payments.

Consumers making payments before December 31, 2025, will receive the highest relief. The state expects to recover around Rs 80 billion in principal dues while waiving about Rs 38 billion in surcharges. The government said the move is intended to strengthen discom liquidity and avoid widespread disconnections.

The Samadhan Yojana will be implemented in two phases, based on a first-come, first-served approach. The first phase, which began this week, will run until December 31, offering surcharge waivers ranging from 60% to 100%. The second phase, from January 1 to February 28, will offer waivers ranging from 50% to 90%.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav stated that Madhya Pradesh remains committed to providing 10 HP power supply to farmers. He highlighted that the state has a renewable energy capacity of 62 GW from solar, 11 GW from wind, 4 GW from biomass, and 620 MW from small hydro projects. The government aims to meet 50% of its total power demand from renewable energy sources by 2030.
