Adani Power Limited (APL) and Bhutan’s state-owned Druk Green Power Corporation Ltd (DGPC) have formed a joint venture company to develop the 570 MW Wangchhu hydroelectric project in Bhutan. The new entity, Wangchhu Hydroelectric Power Limited (WHPL), was incorporated in Bhutan on October 15, 2025.

The joint venture follows a shareholders’ agreement signed in September 2025. DGPC holds a 51% controlling stake, while Adani Power owns the remaining 49%. The project will be developed at Wangchhu and will focus on power generation and supply within Bhutan’s hydro-rich energy sector.

Adani Power’s initial capital contribution amounts to BTN 490 million, against a total authorised capital of BTN 30 billion for WHPL.
