Tata Power and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited have opened a large-scale electric vehicle (EV) charging hub in Mumbai under the TATA.ev MegaCharger initiative. The launch took place on World EV Day and marks the companies’ first co-branded charging facility in the city.
The hub is located near Terminal 2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport at The Leela Mumbai Hotel. It is equipped with eight fast direct current (DC) chargers of up to 120 kilowatts (kW), enabling 16 vehicles to charge at the same time. The facility operates around the clock and is powered entirely by renewable energy.
The hub is designed to cater to a mix of EV users, including private car owners, taxis, fleet operators, and logistics vehicles.
The new installation adds to Tata Power’s existing network of over 1,000 charging points in Mumbai and more than 5,500 public and captive charging points nationwide. The company also operates over 1.4 lakh home chargers and more than 1,200 bus charging points across 630 cities and towns. By 2030, Tata Power aims to scale to 7.5 lakh home chargers and 10,000 public charging points.
