POWERGRID wins TBCB contract for transmission system at Davanagere

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has been declared the successful bidder under a Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process to develop the “Transmission system strengthening at Davanagere for integration of renewable energy (RE) generation” project. The company received the Letter of Intent (LoI) on August 27, 2025.
The project’s qualified bidders included POWERGRID, H G Infra Engineering Limited, Techno Electric & Engineering Company Limited, and Ramalingam Construction Company Private Limited.
The transmission scheme includes several components. First, the augmentation of transformation capacity at Davanagere Power Station with four 400/220 kV, 500 MVA ICTs (5th to 8th), along with corresponding ICT bays, is scheduled for completion within 24 months from the effective date.
Second, the Davanagere/Chitradurga Power Station will be upgraded with one 765/400 kV, 1500 MVA ICT, including associated ICT bays, bus sectionalizers, bus coupler bays, and transfer bus coupler bays.
Third, two 220 kV line bays will be added at Davanagere/Chitradurga Power Station for the termination of dedicated transmission lines from renewable energy projects.
The Request for Proposal (RFP) for selecting the Transmission Service Provider (TSP) was issued by REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (BPC) on May 15, 2025. Davanagere Power Transmission Limited served as the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for the project.
