The Delhi government has amended its rooftop solar subsidy scheme under the Delhi Solar Energy Policy, 2023, according to The Economic Times.
Households will now receive Rs 10,000 per kilowatt for rooftop solar systems up to 3 kW, capped at Rs 30,000 per consumer. The earlier subsidy was Rs 2,000 per kW, capped at Rs 10,000. The revised scheme came into effect on July 10.
Group housing societies and resident welfare associations (RWAs) will get Rs 2,000 per kW for systems used for common facilities, including EV charging. This applies to systems up to 500 kW.
The policy also updates the RESCO (Renewable Energy Service Company) model, allowing third-party developers to install and operate rooftop solar systems. This removes the upfront cost for consumers.
The changes aim to accelerate rooftop solar adoption across Delhi’s residential and group housing segments.
