Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured land in Kandla, Gujarat, for setting up green hydrogen and green ammonia production facilities.
The initiative will be developed through L&T Green Energy Kandla Private Limited, a new entity incorporated in April 2025, under its wholly-owned subsidiary, L&T Energy Green Tech Limited.
The company will focus on producing green hydrogen and its derivatives, such as green ammonia. Located close to Gujarat’s industrial zones and ports, the Kandla site offers logistical benefits for both domestic supply and international export.
The project aims to support decarbonisation in sectors like fertilisers, refineries, and steel, especially in light of emerging carbon border taxes such as the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). With Gujarat’s coastal location, the facility is well-positioned to export green ammonia to major markets including the EU, Japan, and South Korea.
