The Odisha government has approved 17 investment proposals worth Rs 38.79 billion through its State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA). These include key energy sector developments.

Iron Triangle Limited will invest Rs 3.10 billion to set up a 200 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Bolangir district. This marks one of the state’s largest BESS plans to date.

In April 2025, SLSWCA had also approved renewable energy projects worth Rs 11.92 billion. These include:

  • Two wind power projects totaling 95.7 MW

  • Two solar projects totaling 53.97 MW

  • A 0.6 MWh battery energy storage system

Together, these will add nearly 150 MW of capacity in the state.

Separately, National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) has invited bids to engage a consultant for the expansion of its captive power plant (CPP) at Angul. The scope includes site-specific studies, power system analysis, and preparation of a detailed project report (DPR) for a 1,080 MW thermal CPP.

The expansion will add 4×270 MW units to the existing 10×120 MW capacity. The bid submission deadline is July 3, 2025, and the consultancy work is to be completed in 270 days.
