Several transmission lines and substations in Bihar are expected to be completed by FY 2026, significantly enhancing the state’s electricity infrastructure.
Among the key projects is the construction of one 400 kV and three 220 kV transmission lines, aimed at evacuating power from the Chausa Coal Based Power Project.
Additionally, new grid substations (GSS) will be set up in Bhore (Gopalganj), Chandi (Nalanda), and Sarairanjan (Samastipur) at an estimated cost of Rs 1.23 billion, Rs 1.29 billion, and Rs 1.05 billion, respectively.
A new GSS project in Chhapra will feature 440 kV, 220 kV, and 132 kV grids, with an estimated cost of Rs 9.98 billion.
The state will also develop transmission infrastructure for a dedicated 132/33 kV GIS grid substation for Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH), enhancing power supply to the hospital.
Lastly, a second circuit installation of 12 single circuit transmission lines is being carried out under a state scheme at an estimated cost of Rs 1.42 billion.
These developments will help strengthen Bihar’s power transmission network, improving reliability and capacity across the state.
